Another class I needed for a villainous organization, this time a thieves’ guild gone wrong. Many of the spells in this one are from the Advanced Edition Companion rules, so that book (or a 1e PHB) will be needed to adjudicate them.

Rat Cultists
Requirements: Dex 9, Wis 9
Prime Requisite: None
Hit Dice: 1d4
Max Level: 10

Rat cultists are a subclass of thief who worship at the altar of a giant rat revered as a god. Rat cultists must belong to a rat cult, organized like a thieves’ guild, in order to advance in this class. Rat cultists forfeit 50% of their earnings to the cult. Rat cultists cannot wear armor heavier than studded leather and cannot use a shield. Spellcasting ability is like a cleric, requiring prayer to prepare spells and not needing a spellbook.

Rat cultists can Pick Locks, Move Silently and Hide in Shadows as  a thief of the same level.

Back Stab: At level 2, Rat Cultists gain the ability to backstab as a thief (+4 to hit, x2 damage)

Summon Rats: At level 3, Rat Cultists can summon 10 rats once per day. The number of rats summoned increases by 10 every two levels thereafter. These aditional rats can be summoned at the same time, or can be used for multiple summonings during a day.

Summon Giant Rats: At level 5, Rat Cultists can summon 1d6 giant rats +1d6 rats / 2 levels above 5.

Wererat Form: The Rat Cultist gains the ability to shift into a giant rat form as well as the traditional wererat form of a bipedal rat. In both forms he is immune to non-magical weapons unless the weapon is silver.
