The Megadungeon continues, with two more maps!
Level 3 of the Darkling Depths spans two maps, 3A and 3B.
Map 3A has not only connectors to level 2A and 4A, but also a (well-guarded) tunnel running to the surface so that characters who have become friendly with the residents of the underworld town in the northwest section of the map can enter and leave the dungeon this way, to stop having to trek through levels 1 and 2 anymore. This level can be left to get to Map 4A by using the well in the town (which also leads to Map 5A), or by the stairs in the centre of the map. There is also a 20 x 20 elevator room on the south side of the map that leads to Map 5A. Finally, a passage leads to Map 3B, south of this map.
Map 3B is tied to 3A via a passage leading northwards from this map. Otherwise this level can be reached by stairs down from the main complex in Map 2A. One set of stairs leads down from this level to map 4B.
The Darkling Depths maps are amazing. I can’t wrap my head around how you even start making something like that.
Each successive level gets more interesting. What did you stick these levels with? Was there an overriding theme?
Yay iPhone auto correct! Stick=stock
Actually the Darkling Depths never got stocked or played. They got stuck in a folder shortly after being drawn and were then forgotten for about four years.
The only thing I know for sure in these dungeons is that there is a village of dwarves in 3A.
Wait…what? Dwarvish village people? Sweet! I’m SO gonna riff that! 😉
By the way, “The Darkling Depths” is an awesome name for a dungeon. Good job on that too.
could you add a grid version on those map too ?
