Another epic Kevin Campbell map this week. Very triangular. I think I prefer the cool scratchy / sketchy exterior fills of his prior works, but if anything, the lack of the exterior fill works well with the scratchy lines Kevin draws inside his maps indicating floor tiles (or something?).
In fact, I think this map would be perfect with a pale grey (15%?) shaded background.
For some reason, the design makes me think of the Star Wars rebel alliance. I’m not sure why, but that’s what I get from it… and then I suddenly want a rebel base carved into an asteroid or some other inhospitable bit of real-estate hidden from Imperial sight.
I was thinking Sci-Fi map as well.
I totally want to pull out West End’s Star Wars rules.
In the Coruscant system, no less…
It’s because so many of the rooms look vaguely like the Millennium Falcon. That’s why Star Wars. That’s why awesomesauce.
I don’t miss the scratchiness on this one. It looks like a research on a hostile asteroid. Rooms have been added as needed and where the terrain allowed. It just sort of grew organically, molded by necessity and convenience.
Or, it is a Genesis Pit by Ras al Ghul, with a defensive fortification around it. See it there in the middle?
I recently used this in my single-player campaign with my spouse: Floating Monastery of the Flametouched Pirates
That is rockin’!
