Sometimes the mapping regions of my brain just don’t want to fully engage. The end result is that I draw things that could probably be maps… but aren’t.
So there was this strange, ancient civilization that carved all these absolutely *gigantic* passages out of solid rock — somehow they made sure it was stable as all get out.
Then another civilization moved in, making narrow passages and dwellings in the rock that remained. “Is it still stable?” is a good question. “Will the original owners come back?” is another…
“The broad white areas are canals in a Venice-like city.”
I like that. The round “ponds” are (whats it called in english?) where people “park” their boats, and/or floating markets, town squares, temples and what not.
Your “doodle” is actually the seed of a whole campaign of (floating?) urban exploration.
(Pardon my english, I´m foreign – and a little drunk)
I’m with those suggesting a city like Venezia. My phone wasn’t letting me comment before but this is how I see it: the red as the areas of buildings; the white as waterways; the narrow black lines as footpaths. A great setting for an adventures – hunts and chases and monsters leaping up out of the depths to snatch at the unwary who have wandered too near the edge.
Now all you need do is add some bridges in a few spots to make it livable as a community with both types of traffic.
It reminds me of China Mieville’s _The Scar_ as well as a series of novels set in a ramshackle, floating town. Book 1 of Merovingian Nights is titled _Angel with a Sword_.
Looks like some arcologies/habitation modules on a hostile planet. The black lines are the barriers around the red cities.
Hummmmm cut it out and makes jigsaw puzzle?
I actually like the doodles more than the maps
I want this as my ugly christmas sweater.
I was thinking complex city streets within large city blocks between wide parade routes.

Venice
Looks like something from the Outer Planes
One of these sideview scrolling spaceship games, where you have to fly through caves – the white space.

Get a tribal tattoo?? 😉

Some kind of microchip…
