In June when I was unpacking my office I came across my old nearly-complete AD&D Monster Cards set. I received multiple requests for scans of various cards from the set. Since these have been out of print since the one print run way back in 1982, I’ve slapped down the first 20 cards onto my scanner for your perusal. The actual cards have the monster’s full AD&D stats and description on the back. Definitely one of my favourite items in my “Monster Books & Stuff” collection.
(The cards appear in random order)
My best friend had these and he really used the hell out of them, Those images bring back a lot of memories, good and bad. Out of this set, the lizard man, goblin and ghoul were most used but there are a couple we never saw in the course of a game. Thanks for posting these!
Except that goblin is a kobold! The goblin is in another set.
I remember the card with the gnoll. I loved that image and inserted a gnoll into every campaign since.
I love these cards. This set has a great selection of artists from the TSR bullpen – Erol Otus, Jim Roslof, Bill Willingham, Jeff Dee, David S. Laforce, Jim Holloway.
I recently received several boxes of original AD&D stuff from an acquaintance clearing out old stuff that knew I played table top. Two complete boxes of these were in them. It was a treasure trove.
These sets came out when I was 12. I bought all 4 sets without owning any of the D&D books or having played a single game.
It was my first introduction to *ALL* of the D&D monsters. Such memories. I also had a model set of a dungeon. Aha! Found it:

If you were to scan the rest of the cards, I’d be pretty damn happy.
Ooh! And, aah! I’ve never seen these in the flesh, although I’d heard of them, of course. Thanks for a visual treat!
Thanks for the scans! If you have any of the other sets, I would love and appreciate it if you could scan those as well. I’m making some tokens for my dnd game and am trying to use the artwork from these cards.
I’ve got all four sets. It’s just the time investment to scan and clean each set…
If you send me the scans, I’d be more than happy to clean them up and send you the final versions.
Still requires the time to scan them.
They will appear in time.
