In a recent session of my 5e D&D campaign I found myself grabbing cities from other people’s products to fill in places in my game world. And of course, that couldn’t last. So when I got home I pulled out a pad of paper and worked on replacing these cities.
The first of these cities to get finished is Letath, a small coastal city that the party travelled to and then left within 20 minutes of game play. Basically enough time for me to throw down the map on the table and then fast forward through them negotiating a fair place to teach the young chiefling they were escorting, and then to head north to their true destination of Winterspire.
So of course, I would sit down and detail not only the map of the city from those 20 minutes of game time, but then go into detail naming streets and placing major structures…
You can see where Letath fits into our campaign game on the map of the Eastern Shore that I posted last month (it is over on the left, near the middle of the coastline – the map of the city is oriented with north to the right and south to the left.
Finally here’s a version of the map without the water fill, for easier printing.
Love it! Looking forward to more city maps!
Umm… I think you misspelled “Collegia Arcanum…” Unless it’s really called the Collegia Acranum, in which case, my bad.
Put some hills west of town, this could be Portown from Holmes basic.
Ok, not great english. I´m tired …and I´ve had a few beers… maybe more than a few.

Hey, it’s me again – the guy who stitched together Kevin Campbell’s maps. I needed a port city, so I colored in Letath.

I’ll host on my Dropbox until I need the space for something else.
Awesome stuff!
Awesome map!
I printed and coloured to use in my campaing, but….is it legal?
Is this map available to anybody under a free license for personal or commercial use thanks to the awesome supporters of your Patreon Campaign?
Letath is free for personal use, but not commercial use. 🙂
So yeah, enjoy and happy gaming!
Hey there! I created a one-shot recently that I think would make a good published adventure for DMs Guild. I used a city map from a previous Dungeon magazine, but it’s not right to use it for the published version. I saw Letath here, but I am not sure how to use your work, or even if I should. Is this kind of thing what you envisioned your free work to be used for? If so, what is the appropriate way to acknowledge this is you work and/or compensate you for using it?
This would be the first thing I have published (if I do), so I am completely in the dark on the ins and outs.
Thanks!
This map is licensed for free personal use. What you are looking for is a commercial license to use the map. I have a large number of maps (including some city maps) that are available under a free commercial license.

For maps that are not released under the free commercial license, you would need to license the map through me. Contact me at dyson.logos@gmail.com for licensing specifics – generally a non-exclusive license to use a map for a commercial product is around $50.
Is it ok to use this map for one of my towns? It has the layout that is just right for what i had in mind. Of course you will get the map credit.
