For the last two months I’ve been drawing something every day to learn how to draw more than just maps. Today’s piece started as the five platonic solids, and I threw in the d10 in a separate illustration to bring it up to six (even though the d10 isn’t a platonic solid).
When I combined them together, I decided to colour the set in the traditional pride colours, but I would much rather go with the 8 colours of the original pride flag (the missing colours are pink at the top for sexuality and turquoise after green for magic / art).
So the question is, which dice do I add? I love the d5, but from most angles it isn’t really immediately apparent as to what it is. The other odd-sized dice (7, 9, 11, 13, 15) are all very awkward looking. So I guess either a d16 between the 12 and 20, or a 24 or 30 at the bottom.
Which dice would you use?
Go with the 24 as it is a beautiful number
6 base + d24 or d30 + d100 (Zocchihedron).
You could go with the DTotal, perhaps, or just the D24 + D30. Or, perhaps use the d20 twice: a 1-20 die and a 0-9 dice twice?
Allan.
My vote is for the d30.
d30…Always a d30!
Hi! I find the D30 a very good way to choose the day of the week. However, what I =really= want is a d28. I have used a 28 day, 13 month calendar. Is a d28 even possible?
D30 at the bottom, of course. Though I guess that would require a color adjustment.
How about the 3-sider at the top for your pink die? If it were me, that’s what I’d go with.
Love the idea of Pride Dice, by the way.

Well, the calendar I’m working with in my campaign world has 13 months of 28 days each. There is a separate festival for the New Year that consists mostly of a one day festival, but occasionly have a two day festival. These Festivals are on a page of their own that talks about this world’s heavenly evemts. Major level Driuds construct the calendar every year. All of the festivals change a day or two either backwards or forwords every year.
I could probably use a D30 and just re-roll for anything that comes up on the two festival days, unless that Festival is the closest to the current date on my galander.
These are great. You should take that your current image of the “basic six” and label each of them. My current group is all brand new players, and I printed out a similar bookmark sized image that they use to keep track of which dice are which. When searching for such an image, I only came up with one (that I can’t even find now!).
Perhaps a percentile dice? It would be a bit repetitive- same shape as the d10, but it would match the dice sets one buys …
I’ve always found a “scatter die” very helpful. Four sides with arrows and two with a bullseye. Helps with things like throwing bottles of flaming oil, etc. A miss on the attack leads to a roll of the scatter die along with another die (usually a d10) to see where the oil lands!
Gotta include the d30. and what about a d24 for 24 hours in the day?
That would make for an awesome bookmark 🙂
Go with the D2 (also known as “whatever coin the DM has in their pocket”)
: )
Dude – You have great timing!!
I have been scheming about two D&D related tattoos I want to get and was going to look up some simple art of platonic solids to layout and prep for going to an artist.
Best patreon ever!
